It was one year to the day that Stockyards Paranormal conducted its first investigation at the Stockyards Hotel in Ft. Worth. To celebrate our anniversary we returned to the Stockyards Hotel to conduct another investigation. We invited our friends from Tarrant County Investigators of the Paranormal to join us.
TCIP started the night in room 220, while the Stockyards Paranormal crew took room 310. Pat, Rebecca, Kevin, and Karen went to room 310, while Terri joined to TCIP team in room 220.Tonight we decided to try an experiment with “automatic writing”. Automatic writing has been discussed in great detail on several websites, so I won’t go into great detail describing how it works. Karen took up the challenge to try this. While the rest of us were conducting our normal investigation, Karen sat quietly with pen and paper. She kept her eyes closed and allowed the pen to move freely across the paper.
About thirty minutes into the investigation we had settled into the room and were ready to try to talk to any spirits present. Kevin asked for any spirits present to make a noise or in some way communicate with us. After about ten seconds of silence the fire alarm for the hotel went off, talk about making a noise! We had to take a bit of a break and go to the lobby to find out what was going on. We found out later that the exact same thing had happened to the other group.
We were told that there seemed to be some electrical malfunction with the alarm and that we could all go back to our rooms. After we got settled back in we resumed our investigation. During the investigation Rebecca kept a close watch on Karen’s writing. Rebecca reported that for most of the time Karen kept her eyes closed and when they were opened she did not look at the paper. We had asked that any spirits present could guide Karen’s hand to create any type of message they wished to send. We continued this for about thirty minutes and then decided to end our work in this room and move to another.
We then examined Karen’s writing. To our surprise there were no written words, but a picture of what appeared to be a cowboy holding a revolver. A photograph of this drawing is found in the photographs section of this investigation.
We then moved to room 305, also known as the Bonnie and Clyde room. One of the reports of paranormal activity in this room involved an employee and some others using a Ouija Board. After a period of using the board, the water in the bathroom turned on all by itself.
Based on this story we decided to try to recreate the event. We did what so many have warned us not to do and used a Ouija Board. Karen and Dawn worked the board while Kevin wrote down the letters that were indicated. After a few minutes the glass we were using began to move around the board. We asked if there were any spirits present would they send us a message using the board. Slowly the following letters were indicated:
L V T E A V E
After the last letter the glass seemed to just stop moving. Dawn asked if that was the entire message. Neither Dawn nor Karen had kept up with the letters and had no idea if anything had been spelled. Kevin showed the letters to everyone else and we all agreed that it appeared as though the message being sent to us was “LEAVE”. I don’t know if a spirit intended this message or somehow it was Karen or Dawn acting subconsciously, but it was an interesting experiment.
We picked up a few orb photos during this investigation but nothing spectacular. We did not pick up on any EVPs.
The TCIP group had an interesting experience in room 310. While sitting on the bed one of the members observed what seemed to be a shadow move across the room. For a more complete description of this event you can visit their website at www.tarrantcountyparanormal.org We hope to do another investigation in conjunction with TCIP soon.
