Six Flags Over Texas
Pre-Investigation
We were honored to have the opportunity to conduct an investigation at Six Flags over Texas. Six Flags is listed in several places as one of the most haunted locations in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. There are several stories floating around the internet of the alleged hauntings at Six Flags and we were anxious to see if these were true. Since Six Flags is so well known and there is a lot of information available, I won’t go into the history of the location as we normally would.Six Flags public relations personnel Kendel and Olivia were kind enough to give us access to some employees who had their own stories to tell. So in line with our pre-investigation routine we were told the following.
Music Mill
Tina, a security specialist at Six Flags related an incident that had occurred at the Music Mill. She was closing up the building one night. She had turned off all the lights in the building and left. Once outside she noticed that the lights were on. She went back inside, turned off the lights and left again. Once outside she again noticed that the lights were on. At this point she is concerned that someone is in the building. She calls another security officer, Hoyt. Hoyt clears the building and finds no one inside. He turns off the lights and goes outside. Once outside he notices that the lights are on. He goes back inside turns the lights out and comes outside. Again the lights are back on. At this point they just gave up and left assuming that whoever is there just wants the lights on. Hoyt was also interviewed and confirmed this story.There were other reports of the Music Mill where people had heard noises coming from inside the building that could not be explained.
The Palace
Tina told us that one evening, she was closing up the building. At the top of a staircase she heard was sounded like someone laughing. She then heard what sounded like a very heavy sigh coming from just next to her. She then noticed a shadow that moved away from her. She suspected that someone was playing a joke on her but there was no one there. Tina was later told that several employees had experiences in the Palace.We were told by former employees of an apparition of a man in overalls being seen on stage. We were also told of unusual cold spots, people being touched, and people have their names called when no one was there.
The Candy Store (Annie’s Room)
Both Tina and Hoyt told us of seeing an apparition of a young girl standing at the upstairs window of the Candy Store. They both described her as young with long blonde hair and dressed in a long dress like would be worn in the 1800s. Employees at Six Flags have reported seeing her for years and refer to her as “Annie”. Annie seems to be friendly and will roam to other areas of the park. Tina said that whenever she goes upstairs at the Candy Store she talks to Annie.
Another employee who agreed to speak to us was Mike. Mike described seeing Annie near a train car in the general area of the Candy Store. He also described in the same manner as Tina and Hoyt. Mike also told us that his daughter had seen Annie near the log ride.
There are many other accounts of spirit activity at Six Flags. There are reports of a woman calling for help in different areas. Employees have reported activity near the Roaring Rapids and at the Runaway Mine Train.
Armed with these stories we prepared ourselves for what should be a great investigation.
Investigation
On February 23, 2008, the Stockyards Investigations Team conducted an investigation at Six Flags over Texas in Arlington. Based on our pre-investigation we decided to focus our activity in the Music Mill, the Palace, and the Candy Store. The investigators for the evening were Terri, Rebecca, Pat, Monica, Cheryl, Casey, and Kevin. We were joined and guided by Kendel and Olivia, representatives of the Six Flags public relations department. We were also joined by Presley and Mike, two Six Flags employees and by Mike’s daughter. Finally, we were assisted by two psychics with whom we have worked with before, Joel and Jeff.
We began the night with Kevin, Monica, Joel, Jeff, and Kendel going to the Music Mill and the rest of the team working at the Palace.
Music Mill
The Music Mill and ampitheatre has a building used by performers as dressing rooms and waiting rooms. You enter the building through a side door and walk up a flight of stairs to the green room, a smaller room with a shower and toilet, a rest room, and a small kitchen. Monica picked up a very bright orb photo in the large green room.
Jeff and Joel were immediately drawn to the room upstairs with the couch and shower. Looking into the shower area they both saw (psychically) the image of a tall male person who seemed to be in distress. They experienced a feeling of sickness and dizziness. They both heard a tapping noise and were drawn to the area near the couch. They later felt as though they were being shown an attempted suicide through a drug overdose. They felt as though a spirit with a very heavy presence there was showing this scene to them. They picked up the name Michael but couldn’t be sure if this was the spirit or the person the spirit was trying to show to them. Both Jeff and Joel felt strongly that they were encountering a spirit in this building.
Kevin and Monica spent some time in this same room. While sitting on the couch Kevin got an EMF spike. The meter jumped from a .4 to a 1.0 and then went back to .4, which seemed to be the standard reading in this room.
Kendell had been sitting on the floor playing with a piece of paper. She left the paper on the floor and joined the rest of the group. A few minutes later the paper had moved about 15 feet to a different area. (Wish we’d had that on video).
We went downstairs to examine several rooms that constitute the power plant for this building. We captured a strange light anomaly coming from the ceiling. It appears to be a moving orb and was directly above the bulk of the group.
We then went outside to the stage area. We heard a strange rustling sound that we initially took to be leaves blowing. But on closer examination we realized that the wind was not blowing and there were no leaves moving. Jeff and Joel both felt the presence of the same person they had encountered inside the building. Monica picked up several large and bright orb photos while around the stage area. One of the orbs seems to be following the group.
Another odd thing that happened was when Kendel went to lock up the Music Mill. She was unable to make the bolt turn with the key, despite the fact she had unlocked the door just a few minutes before. Due to time restraints we had to leave despite the fact that this spirit wanted to stay with us.
On our way back to the Palace, both Jeff and Joel picked up on the spirit of a young woman calling for help. She seemed to them to follow us for awhile, but wouldn’t come close to us. If we are able to repeat the investigation we would certainly want to focus on this spirit.
The Palace
The group working the Palace was Terri, Cheryl, Rebecca, Pat, Casey, Presley, Mike, his daughter and Olivia.
Early on in the investigation Cheryl was setting up her video camera to try to capture activity on stage. While doing this she and Terri were talking and a tape recorder picked up an EVP which says “I see”. This EVP sounds like the voice of a young girl. Could Annie have made her way to the Palace?
Near the entrance to the theatre is a set of stairs that lead to the lighting room. In this area Terri picked up an EVP which says “Get Down”.
Casey and Presley reported seeing a bright light behind the stage. Casey described it this way “I walked backstage, (from stage to backstage right) and I was looking at the door that leads to dressing area. I saw a small flash of light to the left of door and thought it was a reflection of some sort. When I shined flashlight to where I saw the flash, all that was there was a large hole in the wall and it was only wood; nothing for any type of light to reflect off of.”
Casey also got a photo with a very strange light anomaly in this area. They also picked up some unusual EMF readings in the Green Room. Casey also got a very bright greenish colored orb in the Green Room.
Casey and Presley had an unusual experience in the Green Room. Casey was asking the spirits to communicate by making the EMF meter go off. A few seconds later the EMF meter made an audible signal. A recording of this is included in the EVP section of this report.
The two groups met back up at the Palace. Terri, Cheryl, Casey, Kendel, Joel, and Jeff went to check out the Candy Store while the rest of the group continued working at the Palace.
The Candy Store
As the group approached, several reported feeling an energy drawing them to a particular building. This building turned out to be the Candy Store. Along the side of the building they all heard a clicking noise. Climbing the stairs to the back of the Candy Store, they entered the small room and Jeff and Joel immediately sensed the presence of a small girl , approx. 3-6 years of age. She was cowering in the rear corner of the building where someone had left a large teddy bear. They believed it was because of the bear that she feels safe there. The group tried to speak to her and Jeff said , "what does Miejo mean?" We explained it is a term of endearment, but is masculine in form. Both Cheryl and Terri tried to speak to the spirit to calm her. Jeff then let us both know she did not speak english. Joel said everytime he drew nearer to the area where they believed the little girl to be his heart would race. He attributed this to feeling her reaction to him. Terri and Jeff sat a small teddy bear beside Jeff for the little one. Jeff commented he felt something brush by his arm and speculated that it might be the young child spirit trying to get the toy. We decided to withdraw and leave a video camera positioned to capture the new toy that we had moved to a position much closer to the girl. Jeff and Joel stated that when they shut the door they could hear the girl move to the other side and remain there listening to our group as they were listening to her.
Also during this part of the investigation, Casey picked up an EVP which seems to say “mico”.
When we returned at the end of the night, Joel, Casey and Cheryl went to retrieve a video camera. Joel said the young entity was still there. We thought we heard noises behind the closed door once again upon exiting the building.
Back at the Palace
The group ended the night in the Palace. Jeff and Joel made their rounds and were drawn to an area behind the stage on a stairwell. They felt the spirit of a person who was very upset about something. This was the exact spot where Tina had her experience which is described in the pre-investigation report. We then gathered in the Green Room and had a session using the dowsing rods.
We were trying to communicate with Angus, who is believed to be the previous owner of the land that Six Flags is built on. Jeff and Joel were picking up on the person who had previously been sensed on the stairwell. Terri operated the dowsing rods and began asking questions. As Joel and Jeff picked up on things they would tell Terri who would ask a question using the dowsing rods.
Terri got definite responses to several questions. On a couple of questions the dowsing rods moved very quickly. On most questions we got either no response or a slow crossing.
From what Terri came up with combined with what Jeff and Joel felt it seemed as though there was a spirit of a young man who had experienced some type of romantic problem which had left him sad and depressed.
*Just a note here, we don’t consider what we get from our psychics or dowsing rods to be actual evidence of a haunting. We do use these tools to aid us in gathering actual evidence like photos or evps. It also makes the investigation more interesting and helps us focus our energy so that spirits can use that energy to communicate.
We wrapped up the night’s investigation around midnight. After reviewing our evidence we found several orb photos. Some of these are what you would expect in this location from dust or moisture, but we’ve included some of the better ones that could be signs of spirit activity.
Terri picked up a couple of good EVPs which are included here. Casey’s recording of her EMF fluctuation is also a very interesting piece of evidence.
This was a great night for our group. We would like to thank Six Flags for allowing us to conduct this investigation. A big thanks goes to Tina and Hoyt for giving us some very interesting interviews. We would like to thank Presley, Mike, and his daughter for joining us and providing some very interesting background information.
