Home Investigations EVPs The Team Ghost Tours Links

The Scott Theatre

On Saturday July 21, 2007 the Stockyards Paranormal Investigation team returned to the Scott Theatre for a follow up investigation. We conducted an investigation here in July 2006. Readers can check on this website for information on the Scott and on our previous investigation. The Scott is reported to be haunted by the ghost of “Kenny”, a stagehand who committed suicide in the basement or dungeon in 1970.

During our previous investigation we picked up several EVPs in the ”green room”, dressing rooms, and around the costume shop in the dungeon. For this investigation we decided to concentrate our efforts on these areas. We were hampered to some degree in that there were a few workers in the stage area preparing the lights for an upcoming production by the Kids Who Care musical theatre group. We were also instructed that we had to be out of the building by 9:00pm.

Our two newest members, Monica and Cheryl, joined Terri, Kevin, Pat, Karen, and Rebecca. Our web master, Caitlin, also joined us. We began the evening with a quick tour of the building starting in the green room and dressing rooms and moving down to the basement or dungeon. We were immediately greeted with some unusual activity as described by Terri:

When we did the initial walk through and Kevin was showing us the dungeon area, as we walked through the circular hallway below the stage I became extremely dizzy with the feeling that I was falling from a great distance. I had to leave the area as it was difficult for me to stay on my feet at that time. Once I moved from the hallway to the basement area I was fine. I had suffered a bad sinus issue and stuffy head during the week prior to the investigation so this could've been why I had this issue. (note: Terri felt fine after that with no further ill feelings)

We started the investigation with Pat, Terri, and Monica working in the dungeon, while Kevin, Karen, Rebecca, Caitlin, and Cheryl worked the green room and dressing rooms.

During the investigation in the dungeon, Monica caught a flash of light along the ceiling leading out of the dungeon to the hallway. She immediately took a photo in the direction of the flash. The photo contained a bright orb near the ground. At the same time the orb picture was captured, an EVP, which seems to say “help me” was captured on Monica’s tape recorder. This is quite interesting since we had picked up a similar EVP in our last investigation. Also at about this time Terri picked up an EVP which seems to say “hey”.

The group working the green room area encountered several high EMF readings during their initial walkthroughs. These are probably explainable due to electrical outlets, wiring, and other natural causes. There was one fairly odd occurrence in the girl’s dressing room with the EMF meter fluctuating for several seconds between .4 and .5. This occurred while Kevin was asking the spirits to show us a sign by moving the EMF meter reading. We tried to repeat this several times in different places but that was the only time it happened. Karen also encountered some activity with her dowsing rods at this time. She reported that it felt as though someone were tugging on the rods as she tried to move them.

Karen also picked up two very good EVPs during this first session. The first one can be heard to say “God”. The second one says “help”.

After working the green room and dressing room we went for a short time into the hallway area between the green room and the stage area. In this area, Kevin picked up an EVP, which is difficult to understand, but clearly not any of our voices. This EVP is linked on the website to this investigation.

We later switched the groups to have Caitlin, Rebecca, and Cheryl, work in the dungeon while Kevin, Pat, Terri, and Monica worked the green room and dressing room.

During the next session, Terri picked up an EVP in the green room which seems to say “we are here”. She later picked up an EVP in the dressing room which seems to say “hey”.

We later assembled the entire group in the dungeon. During this time we tried to get “Kenny” to reveal himself to us through the dowsing rods, the EMF meter, and the digital thermometer. We had been asking for activity for about ten minutes when the sound of footsteps above us could be heard. Kevin asked “what is that noise” and Pat replied, “that’s the guys working on the lights walking across the stage”. After which we heard a few more footsteps. This would have occurred at about 8:10 pm.We did not hear any more footsteps on stage above us after this.

At the end of our investigation, Pat spoke to Blake who had been upstairs helping with the lighting. Blake said that they had finished working by about 7:30 p.m. and that no one had been on the stage at the time the footsteps were heard. Pat has spent a lot of time working in the dungeon and is familiar with the sound made by someone walking across the stage and that was definitely that noise. Blake was very sincere when he told us that no one had been on the stage at the time the footsteps were heard by us. We’ve attached a recording of this event to this investigative report.

We picked up several orb photos in the dungeon along with some light anomalies. However we may have accidentally created some of the light anomalies ourselves accidentally. Investigators should remember not to take photos at the same time in the same area. The flash of one camera can possibly cause light anomalies when picked up by the flash on another camera. Also the laser pointer attached to the digital thermometer can possibly cause light anomalies in the same manner. We have attached the orb photos and other strange pictures to let the reader be the judge.

Several of the orb photos are unusually bright. One seems to have a green tint to it. Some seem to have noticeably movement to them. These are very different from the normal orb photographs we usually get. Karen and Terri also noticed a white light that seemed to be bouncing on the wall in the dungeon.

We did get some activity on the dowsing rods in the dungeon. Both Monica and Cheryl got activity using the rods. Cheryl asked if the spirit wanted us to leave and got a yes response. She repeated this question three times with a yes response each time.

In conclusion we had another interesting investigation at the Scott. We were certainly put at a disadvantage with doing the investigation in the early evening and only having a few hours in which to work. But this is something that investigators have to deal with and make the best of with public use buildings. Karen had an interesting observation. She is sensitive and stated that she felt all evening as if a spirit was constantly hiding or moving away from us. This may be a normal occurrence with a spirit, which is naturally benevolent. From our previous investigation it seems as though “Kenny” is basically a good guy who just enjoys being a part of a theatre he truly loved.

We would like to express our thanks to Blake for helping us secure access to the Scott. This is a great theatre that anyone can visit, just buy a ticket.
