Cross Timbers Winery 3
The Stockyards Paranormal Investigations team returned to Cross Timbers Winery for our third investigation on the evening of February 26. This location has become a favorite of ours and tonight’s investigation did not disappoint. Refer to our initial investigation of Cross Timbers Winery for a history of this site. The short version is that the farm house was built around the turn of the 20th century by Dr. Doris, who was one of the first doctors in the Grapevine area.
The property was later owned by a woman named Patsy Weatherman who died on the property. A lot of the activity is attributed to the spirit of Patsy. However recent stories indicate that there may be other spirits here in addition to Patsy.
Aimee, the manager at Cross Timbers, reported to us that several employees have reported being touched while they were working in the barn. Cross Timbers hosts large parties for weddings and the like and the barn is used for these large groups. In past investigations we’ve picked up some good EVPs and a couple of our investigators have reported being touched.
Our team members for this investigation were Cheryl, Monica, Shirley, John, and Kevin. We were joined by our guest Sarah for the evening. We set up fixed video cameras in the main house and both upstairs and downstairs in the barn. During the investigation we used K2 meters, EMF detectors, a PX device, a hack shack, as well as the usual cameras and audio recorders.
During the course of the evening we heard many odd noises that we couldn’t quite figure out. At times we heard noises that seem to be coming from right next to us and there seemed to be no source for the noise. Several of these we caught on our audio recordings so we have included a couple of those.
Here is a synopsis of the evidence we gathered during the evening.
Deep Breath
Cheryl and Shirley are in the main house. They are talking about someone’s pet dying. You hear what sounds like a breath, then Cheryl asks if someone is there. It is as though either Cheryl heard something or sensed something at the time. We wouldn’t normally include what sounds like a person taking a deep breath, but since Cheryl seemed to hear something unusual right then we thought we would put it in.
Come On
Cheryl and Shirley are in the main house. They are being quiet. You will hear what sounds like a moan and then a whisper that we can’t make out on the original version. We have included an enhanced version of this where the sound is amplified. In this version the first sound seems like a voice saying “come on” and then you hear a whisper. This recording also comes from the main house with only Cheryl and Shirley present.
Yeah
Cheryl and Shirley are in the main house. They are talking about seeing shadows and how they could be caused by car lights. Cheryl says something and then you hear a voice whisper “yeah” as though she is agreeing with her. We have also included a shorter version that highlights the word “yeah.”
Get Out
Cheryl and Shirley are in the main house just talking. Shirley is talking about sunglasses and you hear a voice while she is talking. It seems to be a woman’s voice and I hear “get out”. This voice comes over Shirley’s talking so it’s a little difficult to make out the exact words. We’ve included two versions of this, the original and a shorter one that highlights just the voice. This one is a little out of the ordinary for this location. We have not encountered any hostility or bad feelings here so we wonder why we’re getting this response.
Main House Noise
Cheryl and Shirley are in the main house. Shirley is talking and you hear a noise. Cheryl notices the noise and says “what was that?”. One of the most common reports from those who work at Cross Timbers is that the front door handle seems to shake for no reason. This is an example of that.
What’s Happening
Cheryl and Shirley are in the main house. They are wrapping up the session. Cheryl is talking and a voice talks over her. I hear “what that” or what’s happening. We’ve included the original version and then a shorter version that focuses just on the phrase.
Who’s in here
John was working in the barn and picks up a voice that sounds like it is saying “who’s in here”. I’ve included three versions of this, the original, a shorter version, and one that is slightly slowed down.
PX says no
We are all in the barn upstairs, Cheryl asks “did someone say something” and the PX says “no”. For most of the evening the PX said very little, this was once where it seemed to be answering our question.
Outside-Patio-Property
Cheryl, Shirley, and I were in the barn upstairs. We were using the PX. It said patio, outside, property. We think it was referring to Aimee since she was sitting outside on the patio at the time.
Conclusion
Cross Timbers Winery has become one of our favorite places to investigate and we are very grateful to Aimee and the staff for hosting us once again. And for our readers this place is open to the public, so stop by, try some wine, and ask Aimee to tell you some of her ghost stories.
