Artizan's Alley

Artizan’s Alley is located at 148 South Main in Keller, Texas. It is among a group of buildings that line the west side of Main Street between Hill and Vine Steet and is a part of the shops that constitute Keller Old Town. Artizan’s Alley exhibits works from a group of select artisans of all genres, including jewelry, metalwork, woods, painting, pottery, foods, gourds, stained glass, art glass, and others. The buildings in this section of Main Street were all constructed around 1920. This particular seems to have been a grocery store for many years up through the 1960s and 70s.
The building has a display room as you walk in and there are several smaller rooms including an office and kitchen toward the back. The current owner, Joan, says that she can feel the presence of multiple spirits here as have others. She oversaw work to the building prior to opening this past summer. During the remodeling her husband was painting in her office. He was taking a break and secured a paint can to a ladder he was using. Shortly after walking away they heard a loud noise and discovered that the paint can had fallen to the floor. There is a light that comes on and off in the back part of the building with no explanation. The front door bell occasionally goes off when no one has entered the building.
Stockyards Paranormal conducted an investigation of Artizan’s Alley on the night of August 14, 2010. Our investigators for the evening were Cheryl, Monica, Shirley, Kevin, and our newest member John. We began the investigation with everyone in the front room just sitting quietly and trying to get a feel for the building. We had groups of one or two walk through the building and during this time Cheryl and Shirley heard what sounded like a woman’s voice call out to them from the conference room in the back.
During the evening we set up a K2 meter in the kitchen. While we were standing in this area talking, the K2 meter flashed to red. We would get no other K2 meter activity during the evening. Monica picked up a very bright orb from the front area as you can see below. Later in the kitchen, John picked up a very clear EVP that says “yes”. It seems to be a male voice.
The strangest thing that happened during the evening involved a teddy bear. About midway through the investigation, Joan noticed that a teddy bear that had been sitting in a bowl on a table was on the floor. We checked with everyone in the group and no one could remember touching the teddy bear. Monica was able to find a previous photo that showed the bear in its place in the bowl. We took photos of where we found the bear and where it was originally placed. We could not explain how it was moved.

Our group is very thankful for our relationship with the merchants of Old Town Keller. We are happy to have a new friend in Joan, the owner of Artizan’s Alley. We did not find enough evidence to state conclusively that this location is haunted, however we did experience a few things that make us curious and want to come back and try again. We’d like to thank Joan for giving us this opportunity and we hope to come back and try again sometime down the road.
